Currently, Oliver has some works available at Brunswick Street Gallery in Melbourne. He has recently had a show in Tokyo, at Diginner Gallery, earlier this year (2024) in collaboration with photographer Woody Gooch and has new work showing in two upcoming group shows at Brunswick Street Gallery.
Oliver has been painting in a dedicated way for the last five years but the practice has been developing since his first art class in grade three. While not formally trained as an adult he has been developing his painting practice through experimentation and research. Oliver developed his painting practice as a method toward writing during his PhD. Probably the most concrete idea he brings to the canvas is the concept of metonymy, which was first coined by Indian theorist Ramunajan and then made more popular by Australian artist living in New York, Denise Green, and it’s the idea that the inner spiritual becomes the outer material in and through the paint. He practices this whenever he comes to the canvas.
